MANILA, Philippines–Though only 2 years old, Clarence Sabenorio is already on maintenance medication. Ever since he was diagnosed with congenital heart disease at 3 months of age, he has been taking Digoxin, Furosemide and Aldactone for the hole in his heart.

Doctors at Justice Abad Santos General Hospital have recommended that Clarence undergo surgery when he turns 5. Until then, he will have to keep on taking his medication which costs the family P62,064 a year, according to his mother, Clarissa Espino.
