MANILA, Philippines – Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III and Presidential assistant to food security and agricultural modernization Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan continue to top the polls for senatorial bets, Pulse Asia said Monday.

The latest poll, conducted Sept. 8 to 15 among 1,200 respondents, showed that a majority of people said they will vote for Sotto (51.6 percent) and Pangilinan (51.5 percent).

The results were not far from the previous survey, conducted June 24 to July 2, although Pangilinan (54.7 percent) ranked higher than Sotto (53.8 percent) then.

Included in the top five were Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II (47.6 percent), Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. (47.2 percent), and rehabilitation czar Panfilo Lacson (47.1 percent).

Coming in at sixth place was Philippine Red Cross chairman Dick Gordon (45.9 percent).

Batangas Governor Vilma Santos, who was not included in the previous survey, bagged the seventh spot with 44.5 percent. The actress-turned-politician earlier dismissed reports that she was seeking higher office.

Following closely behind is her husband Senator Ralph Recto (44.1 percent).

Within the winning circle or top 12 were Senate President Franklin Drilon (42.6 percent), former senator Juan Miguel Zubiri (41.5 percent), former senator Jamby Madrigal (35.9 percent), and Senator Sergio Osmena III (35.4 percent).

At 13th to 15th places were Justice Secretary Leila De Lima, Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao and former Akbayan Rep. Risa Hontiveros.
