From one PNP head to another: Lacson says Purisma ‘should unburden’ Aquino
MANILA, Philippines — If the corruption allegations against Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Alan Purisima were true, then he should “unburden” the President by offering to go on leave or resign, former PNP chief and now rehabilitation czar Panfilo Lacson said on Friday.
But first, Lacson said, President Benigno Aquino III should have a “heart to heart” talk with Purisima regarding all the issues hounding him.
A civil rights group on Monday filed multiple raps against Purisima for his allegedly hidden properties, the controversial construction of the P25-million “White House” and his allegedly spurious gun licensing contract.
“I suggested that PNoy (Aquino’s nickname) should summon him and being close friends that they are, the President should have a heart to heart talk with him and ask him point by point all the issues that are currently confronting him.,” Lacson said in a text message.
“I don’t think Gen. Purisima will lie to his friend and commander in chief. Or, since in his heart of hearts, he should know if the issues hounding him are true or not.
