MANILA, Philippines – Senator Nancy Binay said Monday that all their assets are declared in their Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) as her father, Vice-President Jejomar Binay faces allegations of corruption and is facing calls for a lifestyle check.

“If you check the SALN of the Vice President, all our properties are listed there,” Senator Binay told reporters in an interview.

“If you check with the Bureau of Internal Revenue you will see all the taxes paid by the Vice President,” she said.

When asked if their assets coincided with their lifestyle, Senator Binay said, “Of course.”

Vice President Binay has been challenged to undergo a lifestyle check by the anti-corruption group United Makati Against Corruption.

Several former Makati City local government officials testified before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee that Vice President Binay, then Makati Mayor, had received kickbacks from government projects including the allegedly overpriced Makati City Hall Building II.

Vice President Binay, during the 2014 Bagong Bayani Awards Monday, told reporters that he and his family would be willing to undergo the lifestyle check “anytime.”

In a previous televised speech, the Vice President said that there was no evidence against him and that the allegations being thrown by the former Makati City officials were merely “hearsay” and would not stand in a court of law.

Senator Binay said that the allegations against their family go back as far as the administration of former president, now Pampanga representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (GMA).

“Under the time of GMA, they were also not able to make issues with regard our lifestyle,” she said.

Asked whether they would waive the secrecy of bank deposits, Senator Binay simply said that it would not be needed.

“Everything is already declared in our SALN including how much cash we have. So everything is already in our SALN,” she said.
