MANILA, Philippines—A complaint for disbarment has been filed against one of the accusers of Vice President Jejomar Binay and his son Makati Mayor Junjun Binay.

In a two-page complaint, a certain Eduardo C. Eridio from Palanan, Makati sought the disbarment of Atty. Renato Bondal for allegedly immoral conduct after he contracted a second marriage while his first marriage is still subsisting.

Bondal recently accused the Binays of allegedly pocketing kickbacks from the construction of the pricey Makati City Hall Building 2.

The complaint was submitted to the Supreme Court before the Office of the Court Administrator.

The complaint stated that Bondal married Rutchie B. Barcelona on March 19, 1997 before Metropolitan Trial Court, Makati City Branch 65 Judge Felicidad Y. Navarro-Quiambao. Then, on July 2, 2011, he married Janice N. Ramos who was 20 years his junior at the Malate Catholic Church officiated by Rev. Fr. Daniel O’ Malley.

“Atty. Renato L. Bondal not only violated Section 27 Rule 138 of the Rules of Court but also violated Article 349 of the Revised Penal Code (Bigamy).

Section 27 provides that “a member of the bar may be removed or suspended from his office as attorney by the Supreme Court for any deceit, malpractice, or other gross misconduct in such office, grossly immoral conduct, or by reason of his conviction of a crime involving moral turpitude, or for any violation of the oath which he is required to take before the admission to practice…”

“The act of Atty. Bondal in abandoning his first wife and children and taking a second wife twenty years younger than him, clearly shows that he is leading a life not in accordance with the highest moral standards of the community and for which reason his privilege to practice law should be withdrawn,” the complaint stated.

Bondal also appeared before the Senate and gave details about the alleged overpriced car park building in Makati.
