Metro Manila now under Yellow alert; 3 provinces under severe flood warning

MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau on Friday downgraded the rainfall warning in Metro Manila and four other provinces to Yellow, while three other provinces remained threatened by severe flooding.

In its 9 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Red rainfall warning remains in Nueva Ecija, Zambales and Tarlac.

A Red rainfall warning means the rainfall amount is more than 30 millimeters within an hour. If it continues for three hours, 65 mm rainfall amount is expected. Severe flooding is also expected in these areas.

Meanwhile, Orange rainfall alert is raised in Bataan, which was earlier under Red alert. Under the Orange rainfall warning, 15 to 30 millimeters of rainfall is expected in the next two hours. Flood is also described as threatening under this warning.

Metro Manila. Bulacan, Pampanga, Rizal and Cavite were all placed under Yellow rainfall alert. These areas had been under Orange rainfall alert. The Yellow rainfall warning means 7.5 to 15 mm of rainfall amount is expected within an hour.‎‎ Flooding is expected in low lying areas.
