Marikina evacuates residents near rising river

MANILA, Philippines—The City Government of Marikina implemented Friday a forced evacuation among its residents near the Marikina River.

In a Twitter advisory Friday morning, the Marikina City Public Information Office said the waters of the Marikina River has reached a critical level of 19.5 meters.Alert level four has been raised and all floodgates have been opened.

Alert level four means the water is at least 18 meters above sea level and calls for a “forced evacuation.”
