2 guards dead, child injured in pawnshop rob

COTABATO CITY—Two security guards were killed while a child was injured when six armed men broke into a pawnshop in Koronadal City past noon on Thursday.

In a report, the Koronadal City police said the guard of Brillantes Pawnshop along Osmeña Street fought when the armed men declared the robbery around 12:35 p.m.

The guard, identified as Joan Lazaga, was killed after resisting the armed men. An unidentified security guard from the nearby Fitmart Department Store also died when he tried to help Lazaga.

Police investigators said a minor was hit in the crossfire and was rushed to the South Cotabato provincial hospital.
