MANILA, Philippines—The Marikina government raised Alert level 3 over the Marikina River, as heavy rains continued to fall over Metro Manila due to the effects of Typhoon “Luis,” the Marikina Public Information Office said.
In its official Twitter account, the Marikina PIO said the water level in the river was at 17 meters as of 12:53 a.m. Monday with all floodgates open.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Metro Manila is not under any public storm warning signal but that with the wide diameter of “Luis,” the National Capital Region was being affected.
As of 12 midnight, Pagasa spotted Luis at the vicinity of Laoag, Ilocos Norte.
