MANILA, Philippines— Public storm signal number 1 was raised over some provinces in Luzon due to tropical storm “Luis,” the state weather bureau said Saturday.
Jori Lois, weather forecaster of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical and Services Administration (Pagasa), said Signal No. 1 was raised in Isabela, southern part of Cagayan, northern Aurora and Catanduanes.
Lois said Luis was expected to make landfall over Isabela on Sunday evening or early Monday.
In its latest bulletin, Pagasa said Luis was last spotted 500 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes with maximum winds of 75 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 90 kilometers per hour.
It was forecast to move west northwest at 17 kilometers per hour.
It it’s Saturday weather bulletin, it said Catanduanes would experience rain with gusty winds, while Calabarzon, Mimaropa, the Bicol Region and the Visayas would be cloudy with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon would be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
