MANILA, Philippines–The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has ordered a cleanup of the youth voters’ list as part of the preparations for the voter registration process for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls.

The Comelec en banc, in Resolution No. 9896, directed all election officers (EOs) to identify listed SK voters who are already 18 years old or turning 18 on or before the day of the SK elections, which has been set for Feb. 21, 2015.

“The Comelec resolves to direct all EOs to identify SK voters who are already beyond the mandatory ages of 15 to 17 on or before Feb. 21, 2015, and prepare the corresponding list,” the resolution read.

The Comelec had already conducted an SK voter registration before the decision was made to postpone the SK elections, originally scheduled for Oct. 28, 2013.

The SK voters’ list had already been encoded, generated and printed by the EOs even before the youth election was postponed by Republic Act 10632.–Tina G. Santos
