MANILA, Philippines—Two months after she had announced that she had cancer, Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago returned to the Senate on Wednesday to attend the hearing of the powerful Commission on Appointments.
Santiago is co-chairperson of the CA’s commission on foreign affairs committee that will deliberate on the confirmation hearing of career ambassadors and Foreign Service officers.
In a press conference last July 2, the senator announced that she was suffering from Stage 4 lung cancer.
But in a statement last August 27, Santiago disclosed that she had “licked” cancer and hinted on running for president in 2016.
