Inquirer regrets news report on lawyer Rene Puno
The Philippine Daily Inquirer, led by its editor in chief Letty Jimenez-Magsanoc, expresses regret for publishing news reports in 1999 that quote sources linking lawyer Rene Puno to an alleged attempt to wrest a P200-million Philippine National Police (PNP) radio supply contract from one Motorola dealer and award it to another.
Puno says that the imputations against him by sources quoted in the news reports are baseless and malicious. He further says that he did not have any interest or involvement in any company that supplies communications equipment to the PNP. So be it, in the absence of any evidence to the contrary.
