Sick teen needs aid
MANILA, Philippines–Even while he was battling leukemia, Renerio Cabornay Jr. also had to cope with being bullied by his classmates for several years.
A third-year student of Tinajeros National High School in Malabon City, the 13-year-old went bald as a result of chemotherapy.
“He wore a cap or bonnet most of the time and would remove it only inside the classroom,” said his mother, Zenaida. She added that the bullying only stopped when the school’s guidance counselor intervened.
The good news, however, is that Renerio also appears to be winning the war against leukemia.
But before he can be declared free of the ailment, doctors have recommended that he undergo complete dental surgery which will cost P25,000; a CT scan (P15,000), a test to determine Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) at the National Kidney Transplant Institute (P12,000); and citospin (P2,500).
