Comelec listup targets mall goers

MANILA, Philippines—The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will be setting up registration centers at several malls in Metro Manila to encourage the public, especially the youth to register as voters and have their biometrics taken.

The poll body will initially hold registrations in several Robinsons Malls in Metro Manila starting today, Sept. 6, until Oct. 15, 2015.

Prior to this initiative, voter registration was limited to all Offices of Election Officers nationwide, as well as some satellite registration centers in different barangays.

“We noticed that the number of registered voters is not that high. So we are taking the initiative to go to the voters, instead of the voters going to our offices,” Comelec Chair Sixto Brillantes said in an earlier interview. Tina G. Santos
