CA panel recommends appointment of Catapang, 51 military officers

MANILA, Philippines — The appointments of General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr, Armed Forces Chief of Staff and 51 other military officers were recommended for confirmation Wednesday by a panel of the powerful Commission on Appointments (CA).
No member of the CA’s committee on national defense objected when a motion to recommend Catapang’s appointment to the grade of general was put on the table.
After recommending Catapang’s appointment, the committee then deliberated and recommended the appointments of 51 other military officers.
The committee will then transmit its report to the plenary for either approval or rejection. The decision of the panel will then be transmitted to the plenary for either approval or rejection.
