CLARK FREEPORT, Philippines—Security at the Clark International Airport (CRK) here has been heightened after law enforcement agencies foiled a plot to install a bomb hidden in a car parked near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Pasay City.
Victor Jose Luciano, president and chief executive officer of the state-owned Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC), said he ordered the CRK security department to go on full alert on Tuesday to protect the facility and ensure the safety of passengers.
Nestor Deona, CIAC security manager, said vehicles entering the CRK and those parked in bays would be inspected day and night with the help of bomb-sniffing dogs.
The passenger terminal has been secured as well, Deona said.
More than 1.2 million passengers flew to local and international destinations via CRK in 2013.
Qatar Airways, Asiana Airlines, Dragonair, Cebu Pacific Air, Seair, Tiger Airways, and Jin Air fly routes through CRK.
