MANILA, Philippines—For every Metro Manila policeman who gets wounded in line of duty, a free medical assistance and treatment will be provided by the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
From the admission to release, the Chinese General Hospital will shoulder the expenses of injured policemen, including their surgery, major operations, and any procedure that will need the use of the hospital’s medical equipment and facilities.
Director General Alan Purisima, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, signed on Tuesday the deal with the Philippine-Chinese Charitable Association Inc. (PCCAI) officials Doctors Benito Goyokpin and James Dy.
PCCAI owns the Manila-based hospital.
Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, PNP Public Information Office chief, clarified that only policemen who are injured while performing their duties within their shift should be entitled of the privilege.
It also covers the time they are engaged in actual police operations as well as during pursuit of criminals and syndicates in Metro Manila.
Also under the agreement, it is the concerned police unit’s duty to transport the wounded policeman from the field of operations to the Chinese General Hospital for immediate medical attention.
“Since human resource is the most important component of an organization, the PNP (expresses) its utmost appreciation to PCCAI for their incessant support to improve the morale and welfare of PNP personnel,” Sindac added.
