3 dead, 8 injured in Zamboanga del Norte jailbreak
MANILA, Philippines— Three were killed, including a jail officer, and eight others were injured following a jailbreak in Zamboanga del Norte on Friday night, police said.
The Siocon town police said the inmates tried to escape from their detention cells at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Siocon town around 7:55 p.m. on Friday, which resulted in a shootout.
Police identified the fatalities as Jail Officer 1 Ryanbel Bagun, and inmates Ruel Humoc and Preciouso Humoc.
Eight others were injured during the shootout and were identified as Police Officer 3 Romel Jay Hachuela and Police Officer 1 Paul Tombic; Jail Officers 2 Roldan Felizarta and Patric Galvez; and inmates Rene Boy Humoc, Lito Magsayo, Ryllmark Canonio and Zenaid Insu.
After a manhunt operation, police said, all the escapees were arrested by the pursuing elements of BJMP and Siocon police and all the wounded were brought to the nearest hospital for medical attention.
