MANILA, Philippines—Before settling for a deal with a policeman-turned-assassin, businessman Domingo “Sandy” de Guzman III allegedly asked a leader of a gun-for-hire syndicate to kill car racer Ferdinand “Enzo” Pastor, the police said.
Police Director Benjamin Magalong, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief, revealed on Thursday that Domingo had asked Alvin Nidua to kill Pastor but turned down the offer.
Nidua was one of CIDG’s high-value targets arrested on August 13 after he and his cohorts engaged in a shootout with policemen at Lower Bicutan, Taguig City.
He is notorious for killing several people in Metro Manila, Laguna, Antipolo, Pampanga, Tarlac, Camarines Sur and in Daraga, Albay.
“Ito po ‘yung unang group na kinontrata sana ng mga suspect sa Pastor case kaya lang tinaggihan ‘yung kaso nila,” Magalong said in a press briefing in Camp Crame.
(They were the first group the suspects in the Pastor case contacted but they (group) rejected their offer)
Magalong, however, declined to elaborate further why Nidua’s group did not accept De Guzman’s offer.
Pasay City policeman PO2 Edgar Angel was allegedly paid by De Guzman P100,000 to take down Pastor on June 12.
Police said Pastor’s wife, Dahlia Guerrero-Pastor, assisted in plotting her husband’s murder.
De Guzman and Guerrero reportedly had an affair.
