Bomb scare hits UP Baguio; campus evacuated

MANILA, Philippines–A bomb scare hit the University of the Philippines Baguio, prompting officials to ask students and employees to vacate the campus on Wednesday morning.

Senior Superintendent Rolando Miranda, Baguio City Police chief, told INQUIRER.net in a phone interview that the threat was sent to the school’s vice chancellor through a text message around 9:30 a.m.

The text came from an anonymous sender who said a bomb was planted in one of the campus’ buildings.

Around 9:45 a.m., Miranda said the UP Baguio administration informed the police of the threat.

“We are still here at UP. Bomb personnel and K9 units are also here to search the campus of any explosive,” Miranda added.
