Abu Sayyaf rebel arrested in Basilan

MANILA, Philippines—An Abu Sayyaf rebel was arrested by the police over his kidnapping and serious illegal detention charges in Lamitan City, Basilan Province, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Tuesday.

Jauhari Idris, alias Jal and Boy Tinik, was arrested by joint forces of Special Action Company, Special Action Battalion, and Regional Intelligence Division ‎of Zamboanga police on Monday.

Chief Superintendent Edgar Basbas, Zamboanga Police Regional Director, said an Isabela City, Basilan court issued Idris’ arrest warrant for kidnapping and serious illegal detention.

Both cases are non-bailable offenses.
