Manila park safe once again for kids

MANILA, Philippines–Plaza de la Virgen, a park in Barangay (village) 826, Pandacan, Manila, which earned the moniker “Plaza Disgrasya” when the previous city administration turned it into a playground with cage-like barricades causing injuries among children, has been restored to its original form—a place where people can gather for public events like fiestas and Masses.

The plaza’s restoration was funded by Mayor Joseph Estrada who re-inaugurated it last week with Vice Mayor Isko Moreno.–Fran Katigbak
