DOTC: Repair of NAIA comfort rooms, air conditioners on full swing
MANILA, Philippines—The government is working hard to clean the tarnished reputation of “the world’s worst airport.”
The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) said Friday that the repair of 121 comfort rooms at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminals 2, 3, and 4 will be completed by December this year.
The P32.6 repair and rehabilitation program implemented under the “Kayo ang Boss Ko” Toilet Facilities Improvement Project will include the installation of water closets, sensor-type urinals, lavatories, tiles, ceilings, and waterproofing projects on comfort rooms at NAIA Terminals 2, 3 and 4.
According to the DOTC, 15 percent of the repairs of the comfort rooms have been finished.
Apart from the comfort rooms, 57 new air conditioning units are also planned to be installed at NAIA Terminals 1 and 2. The installation of the units will be completed by March 2015.

The repair of air conditioning units at NAIA began this month.
The rehabilitation efforts of NAIA Terminal 1 drew flak after passengers reportedly fainted last summer due to the heat. A lawyer even filed a P1.5 million damage suit against the NAIA management.
Last July, the septic tank of NAIA 1 overflowed causing a minor flood at the departure area of the said airport.
A travel site tagged NAIA 1 as the world’s worst airport for 2013 because of its poor facilities.
