Mike Arroyo allowed to travel to Europe

MANILA, Philippines–The Sandiganbayan Fifth Division granted the request of former First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo to travel to Europe.

He will be going to Germany and Italy from September 21 to October 10.

But the anti-graft court imposed the following conditions:

* Travel shall be from Sept. 21 to Oct. 10 only;

* His itinerary shall be in the countries he mentioned in his motion and not any other place;

* A travel bond which he has not withdrawn shall guarantee his faithful compliance to the conditions set by the court;

* Five days upon his arrival, he shall personally inform the court and submit a photocopy of his passport showing a stamp from the Bureau of Immigration of his arrival.

Arroyo and several other officials of the Philippine National Police are facing graft cases in connection with the anomalous purchase of helicopters.

Arroyo has another scheduled trip from Oct. 25 to Nov. 2 to Japan and HongKong.

The court said a separate motion should be filed for his next trip.
