MANILA, Philippines – “Impartial” and “objective” is how the hearing into the alleged overpriced carpark building in Makati City will be, the senator leading the inquiry said Wednesday.
Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III gave this assurance as the sub-committee of the blue ribbon began its investigation into the Makati City Hall II parking building.
Makati Mayor Jejomar “Jun-Jun” Binay faced his accusers as
Binay came at about 9 a.m., or an hour early for the hearing that was scheduled at 10 a.m.
Renato Bondal and Nicholas Enciso VI, also came early.
Pimentel, who had a falling out with Binay’s father and Vice President Jejomar Binay when he left the United Nationalist Alliance to run under the administration coalition in the 2013 senatorial elections, promised an “impartial” and objective” hearing during his opening statement.
The Binays are both facing plunder and graft charges over the car park building.
As of posting time, the senators have started the questioning.
