Lightning kills fisherman

/ 08:30 AM August 19, 2014

A fisherman died while his younger brother went missing after their bamboo raft was hit by lightning in Bolinao town on Saturday, police said.

SPO2 Lionel Caacbay, Bolinao police investigator, said Ramil Mendoza, 41, and his brother, Rommel, 21, were fishing at  Guiguiwanen Bay in Bolinao at 11:20 a.m. when  heavy rain fell and lightning struck. Caacbay said both fell from their raft when they were hit by lightning.

Fishermen in the bay later found Ramil dead. Caacbay on Sunday said a Philippine Coast Guard team was scouring an area near the University of the Philippines Marine Science Institute laboratory in Bolinao to find Rommel.  Gabriel Cardinoza, Inquirer Northern Luzon
