Thunderstorm hits Metro Manila, nearby areas

MANILA, Philippines—Metro Manila and nearby provinces are experiencing heavy rains, the state weather bureau said Thursday.

Julie Nimes, weather forecaster of the  Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), however, told INQUIRER.net that no typhoon or low pressure area has been monitored by the weather bureau.

Nimes said a thunderstorm was affecting Laguna, Rizal and portions of Metro Manila, which may persist for two hours.

On Thursday afternoon, heavy rains were experienced in parts of Metro Manila particularly in Quezon City.
