MANILA, Philippines —Police suspected the 13-year-old boy who shot a 16-year-old boy in a mall in Pampanga on Tuesday were lovers, judging from the suicide note they found in the younger boy’s possession though the families of the two denied knowing anything about their relationship.

The 13-year-old, who was brain dead since Tuesday, died Wednesday afternoon after his family gave the go signal to the doctors at San Fernandino Hospital to remove his life support system.  The family members also agreed to donate the boy’s kidney and cornea to the National Kidney Institute and the Eye Bank, respectively, in Metro Manila.

Police said the 13-year-old allegedly used a 22-caliber pistol to shoot the 16-year-old boy before shooting himself sometime between 11:45 and 11:50 a.m. Tuesday at the SM Pampanga Building 3, Annex 2, right in front of Congo Grill restaurant.

Mexico town police chief Superintendent Wilson Santos said the suicide note showed that the two may have had an intimate relationship as the 13-year-old said he was prepared to die with the older boy.  The 13-year-old had also apologized, through the note, to the older boy’s family.

The 16-year-old has been declared brain dead by doctors at the intensive care unit of Mother Theresa of Calcutta Medical Center, where he was transferred earlier from Jose B. Lingad hospital, also in San Fernando, Pampanga, said Santos.
