‘Jose’ toll: 2 dead, P1.6-M worth of crops damaged in Pangasinan

MANILA, Philippines — Two were confirmed killed in the aftermath of Typhoon ‘Jose’ (international name: Halong), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC)  said on Friday.

NDRRMC said the bodies of two teenage boys that went missing last Tuesday in Pangasinan were recovered on Thursday afternoon.

Ronald Perez, 14, and Rodnel Javillonar, 15, residents of Diaz village in Bautista town, jumped from a bridge to go swimming but were swept away with the strong current last Tuesday, Aug. 5.

They were recovered on Thursday, Aug. 7, two kilometers from the bridge.

Rains caused by the southwest monsoon and Typhoon Jose early this week affected 4,355 families or 15,769 persons. There were 500 families or 2,500 persons that were sheltered in evacuation centers.

As of Friday, a total of P1.6 million worth of crops were damaged in Pangasinan.
