MANILA, Philippines — “We are always outnumbered but never out fought.” That’s how Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police Director General Alan L. Purisima described the country’s police forces.
Speaking at the 113th Police Service Anniversary at Camp Crame in Quezon City on Friday, Purisima recognized the achievements of police officers in the country committed and dedicated to their duty to serve the country despite being “outnumbered.”
“Marami ang bayani sa ating hanay ng kapulisan [We have a lot of heroes in the police ranks],” Purisima said.
President Benigno Aquino III led the presentation of awards to police officers and units.
Leading the awardees was Police Deputy Director General Felipe L. Rojas, chief of the PNP administration, who was recognized for his outstanding performance in the field of police administration.
Rojas was cited for his management and supervision during the Aseanapol conference here last May.
Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Police Director Benjamin Magalong was also awarded for his innovations to enhance the competence of crime investigators that led to successful police operations.
Other police officers and various police units in the country were also recognized for their outstanding achievements.
Purisima thanked Aquino for his continued support to the PNP.
The police official assured the President that police forces in the country “remained strong” amid the successive disasters that hit the country.
