MANILA, Philippines–With Typhoon “Jose” (international name: Halong) loosening its hold on the southwest monsoon as it moved out of the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), the entire archipelago can expect generally good weather in the next three days, according to the weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said typhoon Jose exited the PAR about 7 a.m. Thursday, heading for Japan.

The habagat, or southwest monsoon, which had been enhanced by Jose, brought occasionally moderate to heavy rains on Thursday over the Ilocos region and extreme Northern Luzon. But senior forecaster Jori Loiz said these areas can expect improved weather by Friday.

“We can expect generally good weather in the next three days over the whole country. There may be isolated thunderstorms but weather will be generally fair,” he said.

Loiz said Pagasa was not monitoring any weather disturbance that could affect the country in that period where skies are anticipated to be partly cloudy to cloudy.
