QC cop killed outside cockpit

MANILA, Philippines–A Quezon City policeman was shot dead on Wednesday night after he left the San Roque Cockpit Arena in Marikina City.

According to a witness, PO1 Gilbert Ringor Peralta, 52, a member of the Criminal Investigation and Detection team based at Camp Karingal in Quezon City, was walking on Shoe Avenue Extension around 6:30 p.m. when a man came up to him and shot him three times in the head and back.

The gunman, described as a man of medium build with fair complexion and dressed in a white shirt and shorts, then escaped by boarding a motorcycle driven by a cohort.

The victim was taken to Amang Rodriguez Memorial Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Case investigator PO3 Eric Orsal said they were looking into the possibility that Peralta’s killing was connected to the cases he was handling.–Vanessa B. Hidalgo
