The Philippine Constabulary, the forerunner of the Philippine National Police, was established on Aug. 8, 1901, by Capt. Henry T. Allen. Initially called Insular Constabulary, it was renamed the Philippine Constabulary in December 1902.–Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
