DAR budget halved from P20B to P10B

MANILA, Philippines—The budget of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has been halved from P20 billion in 2014 to just over P10 billion in 2015, but the agency isn’t worried, its secretary said on Thursday.

At the sidelines of the budget deliberations at the House of Representatives on Thursday, DAR Secretary Virgilio Delos Reyes said their budget went down to P10.26 billion in the new proposed budget, from P20.003 billion in the 2014 budget.

The slash in budget is mainly from the land owner compensation funds, Delos Reyes said.
