MANILA, Philippines – Parts of Luzon will experience rains as a low pressure area and monsoon trough affect the island, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Wednesday.

Pagasa said that at 2 a.m., the low pressure area was seen 290 kilometers west of Northern Luzon. Monsoon trough will also affect Northern Luzon, Pagasa said.

Northern and Central Luzon will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening, Pagasa said.

“Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Southwest to South will prevail over Northern and Central Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the Southwest to West with slight to moderate seas,” the state-run weather bureau said.
