MANILA, Philippines–Typhoon “Jose,” which is expected to exit the country on Thursday, will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon that brings heavy rains, the weather bureau said Wednesday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that Ilocos Region and parts of Zambales in northern Luzon will receive the brunt of the monsoon rain.
Pagasa’s early-morning bulletin also said Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience occasional rains and the Visayas and Mindanao isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.
As of 4 a.m. Wednesday, the eye of Jose was spotted 770 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, with peak winds up to 150 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 185 kph.
Pagasa said Jose was moving northward at 15 kph.
