45 Las Piñas infra works fast-tracked

MANILA, Philippines–The Las Piñas government is accelerating 45 infrastructure projects this year to “enhance the city’s economic development.”

In a recent statement, the city government identified some of the projects, including a four-story, 26-classroom school building in Barangay (village) Almanza I, a two-story daycare center in Pilar Village and another one in Barangay Talon I.

The local government said it was also eyeing the repair of the city-run Dr. Filemon C. Aguilar Memorial College.

Other infrastructure projects, on the other hand, that have been completed or are nearing completion include the rehabilitation of 19 road networks; rip-rapping of areas near the Las Piñas River and other creeks and waterways; the construction of a bridge between Vergonville and St. Joseph Subdivision in Pulang Lupa; the upgrading of drainage systems in six critical areas; the construction of a multipurpose hall in Barangay Pilar and a covered court in Green Valley, Manuyo II; the repair of the two-story barangay hall of CAA-BF International; and the installation of streetlights on the main roads of TS Cruz Subdivision in Almanza II.

Mayor Vergel Aguilar said the additional school buildings and preschool centers were aimed at addressing the growing number of students in the city’s public schools.

The road network construction and improvements, meanwhile, would hasten economic growth, he added.
