MANILA, Philippines – It’s the natural reaction of a sister, Malacañang on Sunday said of Kris Aquino’s defense of President Benigno Aquino III.

Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said he was able to listen to the actress’ voicing her frustration over her brother’s bashers during the death anniversary of their mother, former President Corazon Aquino.

“Ito ang saloobin nilang mga magkakapatid. Natural lang naman po siguro sa mga magkakapatid na magsaad ng ganoong klaseng saloobin,” he told media.

(That is the sentiment of the siblings. It is perhaps natural for siblings to express that kind of emotion.)

On Friday, Kris told family and friends that majority of Filipinos still believe in his brother. This was despite protests against the Disbursement Acceleration Program, which has been dubbed “presidential pork,” and declining performance ratings of the President.

“The problem is that his supporters and believers choose to remain silent about their observations,” Kris said.

The actress-host said seeing people wearing colors in protest of Aquino led her to become more vocal in supporting her brother.

Kris was supposedly referring to the “red and black” protest held by Supreme Court employees who criticized Aquino’s defense of the DAP, which was declared partly unconstitutional by the high court.

“After that, I told my sisters that I would start wearing yellow,” Kris said.

Coloma said the actress’ statement was part of her speech thanking those who continue to support the Aquino family.
