THE San Carlos Seminary College (SCSC) opened the devotion to St. Therese of the Child Jesus to the general public as the fiesta celebration in her honor nears.
The celebration seeks to foster devotion to the saint.
Thirty-one years later and counting, the devotion to St. Therese has yielded a bountiful harvest for the community, thanks to benefactors and their undying support and patronage.
This year’s fiesta celebration coincides with the 40th year of the seminary as a separate college institution of Seminario Mayor de San Carlos. This is an opportune time to come together, “to look into the past with gratitude” for all the graces received through the intercession of St. Therese.
The transfer of the relic of St. Therese from Carmelite Monastery to SCSC was held at dawn last Sept. 16 as highlight of the opening salvo.
In the afternoon, Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma presided over the first day of the novena Mass. After the Mass, Palma blessed the exhibit on the life of St. Therese at the lobby of the seminary.
This year’s 31st fiesta celebration theme is “Good seed. Fertile ground. Bountiful harvest with the little flower.”
On Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. (the feast day), there will be a concelebrated Mass to be presided by retired Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal to culminate the novena.
