MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck waters off Bongo Island in Parang, Maguindanao on Saturday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The tremor occurred at 1:43 p.m. and was located 31 kilometers (km) northwest of the island.
Phivolcs said it was tectonic in origin and with a depth of focus of 10 km.
The state weather bureau said no aftershock or property damage is expected.
