Laborer trying to sleep shoots coworker dead

MANILA, Philippines—A construction worker having a few drinks was shot dead by a coworker who was trying to rest on Sunday night in Marikina City.

In a report to the Eastern Police District, the Marikina Station Investigation and Detective Management Section identified the victim as Moises Roque, 24, a resident of Hagonoy, Bulacan.

The man who shot him, Marlon Angulo, escaped after the incident.

Based on the initial investigation conducted by case officer SPO1 Marlon Maiso, the victim was drinking with a coworker at 11:20 p.m. on Sunday at the construction site on Dao Street in Barangay (village) Marikina Heights when Angulo, who was trying to sleep, approached the duo and reprimanded them.

Angulo left but returned, this time with a gun. He shot Roque in the neck and then fled, bringing with him the gun and his belongings.

The victim was taken to Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center for treatment but he died around midnight.
