MANILA, Philippines–The New People’s Army (NPA) is expected to free this week four policemen held captive since July 10 once a five-day ceasefire in six towns in northeastern Mindanao is declared.

This was after Interior Secretary Mar Roxas secured the commitment of the National Democratic Front (NDF) to free the policemen upon the implementation of a ceasefire in six Surigao del Norte towns.
