MANILA, Philippines — After ravaging Luzon and parts of Visayas last week, Typhoon “Glenda” has left 97 dead, 437 injured and six missing in its wake, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Monday.
According to the NDRRMC, badly-hit Calabarzon suffered the most fatalities with 70 together with 107 injured.
Bicol Region had 153 injured and six fatalities.
Also, the typhoon, which reached peak strengths of 150 kilometers per hour and gusts of 185 kph, left total damages worth P7,407,763,030.62 with P6,334,314,583.67 from the agriculture sector and P1,068,448,446.95 from the infrastructure sector.
A total of 111,372 houses were destroyed with 27,874 utterly destroyed and 83,498 partially damaged.
To compensate for the damages, a total of P16,178,184.83 worth of relief goods were sourced from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (P6,077,244), Department of Health (P6,246,095.83), local government units (P2,950,492), and non-government and government organizations (P904,353).
