MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Jejomar Binay’s net satisfaction rating dropped to +67, the latest Social Weather Stations survey showed Monday.
The survey, conducted among 1,200 adults from June 27 to 30, measured the public satisfaction with the top government institutions and their leaders. It has sampling error margins of ±3% for national percentages, and ±6% for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Binay’s net satisfaction rating fell by six percentage points, from an “excellent” +73 in March to a “very good” +67 in June.
However, when compared to other officials, the Vice President’s rating remains relatively high.
Nevertheless, the three other officials, two of which are close allies of President Benigno Aquino III and one appointed by him, showed an increase in ratings.
Senate President Franklin Drilon, who has been unable to get past the “good” category (+30 to +49) since assuming his post in 2013, received a slightly higher net satisfaction rating of +20 last month compared to +17 in March.
On the other hand, House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte’s -1last March remained “neutral” in June with a +2 net satisfaction rating.
Chief Justice Lourdes Sereno’s net satisfaction rating also remained “neutral” from +4 in March to +6 in June.
Despite the slight improvement in the officials’ ratings, public satisfaction with top government institutions worsened.
The Senate’s downtrend continued, receiving a mere +12 in June from +26 in March.
Meanwhile, the already beleaguered House of Representatives dropped by five percentage points, from +18 in March to +13 last month.
The Supreme Court, despite receiving the highest rating for the said survey, dropped from +35 to +30.
The President’s Cabinet, on the other hand, had the lowest net satisfaction rating at +7 last month, from +20 in March.
The SWS categorizes its net satisfaction ratings through the following terms: +70 and above, “excellent”; +50 to +69, “very good”; +30 to +49, “good”; +10 to +29, “moderate”; +9 to -9, “neutral”; -10 to -29, “poor”; -30 to -49, “bad”; -50 to -69, “very bad”; -70 and below, “execrable.”
