PNP activates nationwide task group for ‘Glenda’
MANILA, Philippines—Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Alan Purisima has activated a nationwide task group as preparation for the onslaught of typhoon Glenda (international name: rammsun).
Purisima formed the National Headquarters Disaster Incident Management Task Group (NHQ-DIMTG) in charge of coordinating all disaster response operation of police units in areas affected by “Glenda.”
The group will be composed of PNP units which are “disaster response-capable” including Special Action Force, Maritime Group, Highway Patrol Group, Police Community Relations Group and Regional Public Safety Battalions.
Chief Superintendent Danilo Constantino, PNP Director for Police Community Relations, was tapped to head the task group.
In a statement, the PNP said Constantino mobilized the concerned police units “to muster troops and resources for possible deployment to areas affected by floods, landslides and collapsed structures.”
