‘Glenda’ moving faster, Signal No. 3 raised in 13 areas

MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon “Glenda” (international name: Rammasun) has sped up its pace as it moves closer to make landfall in the Albay-Sorsogon area, the weather bureau said Tuesday.

In its weather bulletin issued at 11 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said “Glenda” is at 80 kilometers east northeast of Catarman, Northern Samar or 160 km east southeast of Legazpi City.

“Glenda” has maintained its strength of maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour and gusts of 150 kph while moving at a pace of 24 kph toward the west.

Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Masbate including Burias and Ticao Islands, Southern Quezon, Marinduque, Northern Samar and the northern part of Samar and Eastern Samar are placed under public storm warning signal no.3.

Other parts of Quezon, including Polillo Islands, Batangas, Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Bataan, Metro Manila, Biliran, rest of Samar and Eastern Samar, and northern part of Leyte province are under public storm warning signal no. 2.

While Romblon, Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Lubang Island, Zambales, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, La Union, Aurora, Southern part of Leyte province and Camotes Islands are under public storm warning signal no. 1.

Pagasa estimated that rainfall amount would range from 7.5 to 20 millimeters per hour, moderate to intense, within the 500 km diameter of the Typhoon.
