MANILA, Philippines–The net satisfaction rating for President Benigno Aquino III dropped to its lowest level last June, a Social Weather Stations survey showed.
The latest poll, conducted among 1,200 respondents last June 27 to 30, showed that Aquino’s net satisfaction rating fell to a “moderate” +25 last month from a “good” +45 in March.
It is the lowest since the President took office in 2010 and the first time that his ranking reached “moderate” levels.
The SWS categorizes its ratings as follows: +70 and above, “excellent”; +50 to +69, “very good”; +30 to +49, “good”; +10 to +29, “moderate”, +9 to -9, “neutral”; -10 to -29, “poor”; -30 to -49, “bad”; -50 to -69, “very bad”; -70 and below, “execrable.”
The survey was taken amid complaints on the price hike of basic commodities and public discourse on the pork barrel scam and the Disbursement Acceleration Program, which was later declared partly unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, among economic classes, Class D and E showed the greatest drop, from a net satisfaction of +45 and +44, respectively, in March to +22 and +31 in June. Meanwhile, Class ABC’s net satisfaction rating dropped to +32, from +39 last March.
A question of success
Meanwhile, a majority or 50 percent of the people remained convinced that it is still “too early to tell” whether Aquino is a successful or unsuccessful president.
More people in Visayas and Mindanao, both at 40 percent each, said Aquino was successful. This doubled that of Metro Manila and Luzon respondents with only 19 percent and 21 percent saying the President was successful.
