“Stations” was a stylized map of train stations on a white background, which had each of the 14 “Stations of the Cross” as  destinations on the red dots of a blue line. Its blurb read: “Siya rin madugo ang biyahe.”

That special execution wrapped the April 15, 2014, Holy Wednesday issue of Inquirer Libre.

To commemorate the birth anniversary of Jose Rizal, a replica of the original cover of his novel “Noli Me Tangere” wrapped the June 19, 2013, issue of Inquirer Libre.

The second bronze was in the Interactive Print Media category for its entry “Andres,” a false cover on June 12, 2013. It was inspired by the Cry of Balintawak, with the Katipuneros waving folded copies of Libre. The headline read: “We’re free.”

All in all, four golds, 14 silvers and 22 bronzes were given out by the Tinta Awards, which is also known as the Philippine Creative Print Awards.

Angel Guerrero, awards chair, said: “We have a record number of entries, 20 percent from last year, from over 20 companies composed of advertising agencies, media agencies, publications, advertisers and students.””

Mass transit riders

The Inquirer’s chief operation officer, Rene R. Reinoso, said: “Libre’s awards clearly manifest the team’s branding spirit aligned with the very same reason why such an innovative product was created. Libre is now more than inspired to serve the information needs of mass transit riders in more engaging ways.”

Also honoring the collaborative spirit behind the award was Jun Maneze, managing partner and joint chief operating officer of AMP/Amon+Maneze & Partners.

Maneze said: “Credit for this landslide win can be given only to a great client-agency creative partnership. One that consistently produces insightful, relevant, widely circulated, impactful, newsworthy, value-changing and brilliantly executed work.”

Libre Business unit head Blair Marquez said the free newspaper wanted to show that it was “the perfect vehicle for creative executions. It was also an opportunity to remember special events in the country in a creative way.”

TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno claimed the Tinta Advertising Agency of the Year. It claimed the award for Print Ad of the Year.

Blackpencil Manila’s “How Not To Instagram” was named Print Ad of the Year-online advertising campaign while Peerless Lion Corp. was named Tinta Advertiser of the Year.
