Sandigan defers Enrile et al. arraignment due to typo
MANILA, Philippines – A typographical error in the charge sheet prompted the Sandiganbayan Third Division to defer the arraignment of Senator Juan Ponce Enrile and 48 others on charges of graft and corruption.
In their bid to amend the 15 Information or charge sheets for graft, the prosecution wanted to change the word “SubAro” to SARO.
A Sub-Allotment Release Order (SubAro) is issued by a particular line agency to its lower operating units allowing them to incur specific obligations for a specific period while a Special Allotment Release Order (SARO) is issued by the Department of Budget and Management.
Sandiganbayan Third Division Clerk of Court Dennis Pulma said all the accused were given up to Monday to comment on the prosecution’s move.
The arraignment was moved to July 18.
